UK Vibration Regulations at a Glance

Essential rules under the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005

Exposure Action Value (EAV)

100 HSE Points (2.5 m/s² A(8))

The daily amount of vibration exposure above which employers are required by law to take technical or organizational measures to reduce exposure, including job rotation, improved equipment, and occupational health surveillance.

Exposure Limit Value (ELV)

400 HSE Points (5.0 m/s² A(8))

The statutory maximum amount of vibration an operative may be exposed to on any single day. Work with vibrating equipment must cease immediately once an operative approaches or reaches 400 points.

Why Hand-Arm Vibration Monitoring Is Essential

Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) are permanent, disabling conditions causing painful finger blanching ("vibration white finger"), numbness, and loss of grip strength. Under UK law, employers have a strict statutory duty to evaluate risks, control exposures, and maintain historical exposure documentation.

Relying on retrospectively scribbled paper sheets leaves civil engineering and groundworks businesses vulnerable to massive personal injury compensation claims and HSE enforcement notices. TriggerTrack provides contemporary, verifiable digital records that protect both worker health and contractor liability.
